FRF president and board members visited Gyumri last summer to express their gratitude and financial support to the families of the soldiers wounded and killed in the 44-day Artsakh war. Tigran Danielyan was one of the police officers injured on October 4, 2020, when the Azerbaijani military targeted the Cultural House in Shushi. Around 500 police officers at the building were about to leave for the frontline when the airstrike occurred. “We arrived in Shushi early in the morning and gathered at the cultural center to discuss our strategy when the building was bombed at 2.30 PM. Some of our friends died on the spot, and many were injured.
My friends took me to Stepanakert hospital,” Tigran recalls. Tigran’s left hand and leg were severely injured. Doctors managed to partially restore his hand function, but Tigran lost his left leg. After spending months in the hospital, he was fitted with a prosthetic leg and has a second-degree disability now. Tigran is married and has two children. His job in the police system was not restored, and Tigran’s biggest concern now is not the health issues but how he should take care of his family.
FRF president Naz Atikyan thanked Tigran and his family and assured them that the Fund will always support our heroes and their families. To continue our mission of helping families of our homeland defenders, the Family Rescue Fund will dedicate June fundraising to the families of wounded soldiers.
